Lib Dems: We need a new school AND community sports facilities, not one or the other

For years, Kensington & Chelsea Liberal Democrats team have been campaigning for a new secondary school in North Kensington. The Council have finally announced that it intends to build one - on the site of the North Kensington Sports Centre on Lancaster Road.

Local Campaigner Carol Caruana chosen for Colville By-Election

Kensington & Chelsea Liberal Democrats have chosen local campaigner Carol Caruana to stand in the surprise Colville ward by-election on Wednesday July 22nd. If elected, she will become the first Liberal Democrat councillor for Colville. (Colville is the area surrounding the middle of the iconic Portobello Road in North Kensington.)

Lib Dems welcome RBKC U-Turn on Portobello Court

Local Lib Dem campaigner Carol Caruana has welcomed the decision NOT to build shops over the Portobello Court housing estate. The plan, supported by Conservative councillors, would have seen residents bought out and re-housed to make room for shops including a supermarket.

Western Extension Scrapped, Lib Dems Celebrate

The Kensington & Chelsea Liberal Democrats are celebrating the decision by Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, to scrap the Western Extension of the Congestion Charge. The local Liberal Democrats have been campaigning for the abolition of the extension since 2004, citing the devastating impact the charge has had on local business owners, particularly shops and stall holders on and around Portobello Road.
